A fairly decent descent: Punch Boy & Elevator Fight | NES Works Gaiden: Epoch-08
Youtube Video Description:
This episode takes us beyond the Super Cassette Vision launch window—and beyond the original Cassette Vision's final release, which arrived a month before this pair of games. That information has some relevance to at least one of these games, which shares a similar theme (elevators!) to Cassette Vision's swan song.
Really, both of these games draw on ideas and mechanics that Epoch's designers had explored on the original Cassette Vision, though with considerably more graphical nuance and variety. I'd say both of these titles feel quite of-the-moment to their 1984 contemporaries on other consoles... which makes it a shame that they're both bogged down by such a dated, hardwired controller.
