For nyuckleheads only: The Three Stooges & Hollywood Squares | NES Works 151

Youtube Video Description:

NES Works is back! I'm sorry that this is how I have to break the news to you, though. Things have been pretty great so far on NES, but this episode gives a foretaste of what the console's future holds. There are plenty of great games to come, don't you worry, but we'll also be slogging through a seemingly endless array of licensed games made by companies that don't quite have a grasp on the limitations of the machine. The Three Stooges is a minigame collection that won accolades for its sumptuous computer visuals; on NES hardware, the game looks decidedly accolade-free. And The Hollywood Square does what it can to replicate the game-slash-variety show's appeal, but there's only so much of that you can carry into a cartridge without space for an ever-changing array of celebrity quips... and one without celebrities, for that matter. It's almost as if Activision and GameTek conspired to say, "Nah, kids, go get one of those next-gen machines... the NES is washed." Please support this documentation project through Patreon (www.patreon.com/gamespite) or by picking up some of the related books (www.limitedrungames.com/collections/books). Or preorder Metroidvania: The First Decade from a fine book chain or comic shop, such as B&N (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-history-of-metroidvania-jeremy-parish/1148489848?ean=9781506754543). Thanks!
