No Boys allowed: Neo Geo Pocket | Neo Works 01

Watch on Youtube

Youtube Video Description:

Welcome to the cootie-free zone. In the land of Neo Geo Pocket, there are no Boys. This episode marks the beginning of a side series that explores the brief but brilliant life of Game Boy's worthiest competitor, the Neo Geo Pocket and Neo Geo Pocket Color. For the moment, don't expect a look at any specific games; this video focuses strictly on the circumstances of the Pocket's creation and what it represented for gaming. We'll dive (alert) into the games soon enough, though, don't you worry. Note that this project began life as a Game Boy Works Gaiden, but I later decided that SNK's stuff needs its own content bucket—thus the inconsistency between the thumbnail and title card. Production notes: Video Works is funded via Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/gamespite) — support the show and get access to every episode up to two weeks in advance of its YouTube debut! Plus, exclusive podcasts, eBooks, and more! Why watch when you can read? Check out the massive hardcover print editions of NES Works, Super NES Works, and Virtual Boy works, available now at Limited Run Games (https://limitedrungames.com/collections/books)! SG-1000 Works: Segaiden Vol. I is available NOW, and Metroidvania: The First Decade and NES Works Gaiden are due in 2025. NES footage captured from Analogue Nt Mini. Video upscaled to 4K with RetroTink 4X and 720p with xRGB Mini Framemeister.
