Great Wall and great ’ball: China Warrior & Alien Crush | Turbo Works 03

Youtube Video Description:

Once again contrasting the "eh" launch titles with the stone-cold classics, we have China Warrior ("eh") and Alien Crush ("stone-cold"). The former certainly made a strong impression back in the day! With its utterly enormous player sprite—an unmistakable effigy of Bruce Lee—China Warrior was pretty much "Kung Fu but twice as cool." And it was. Unfortunately, it arrived a couple of weeks after Altered Beast, which was pretty much "Kung Fu but three times as cool." The numbers don't lie. The good news is that we also have Alien Crush, a game about playing pinball... in space! Or maybe not in space. Maybe it's happening in the abdominal cavity of some alien monster, that also has a bunch other aliens' faces inside of its body. I don't know if you're supposed to think that hard about it. Alien Crush is, in its way, an unmistakable effigy of James Cameron's Aliens. But as pinball. And you know what, it's still extremely good and fun to play. A real highlight of the TG16 launch lineup.
