Garden variety: Turpin & Fighting Bug | NES Works Gaiden (Casio) 65

Two more picks from the Casio PV-1000 library: A pair of games about critters trying to avoid being eaten by bugs. Both maze chases clearly descended from Pac-Man. And, coincidentally, both shipping for PV-1000 under different names than they wore in U.S. arcades. Konami's Turpin (AKA Turtles) brings that company's run on PV-1000 to an underwhelming conclusion. As maze chases go, it doesn't stand apart from the countless other games of this style to congest arcades in the early ’80s. Universal's Fighting Bug (AKA Lady Bug), on the other hand, holds up impressively well and plays pretty authentically to the coin-op release— maze proportions notwithstanding. Not that you're going to both to hunt down either of these cartridges, but in some theoretical reality where you would engage in such nonsense, that alternate you should skip Turpin and go straight for Fighting Bug.
